Phil and I the first week of dating October 2009

Phil and I met on September 12, 2009 Columbus, Ohio at an Ohio State v. USC tailgate. Phil likes to say we met at a bar (Out-R-Inn), which we did , but I like to say it was a tailgate because it was technically one; we were enjoying adult beverages in anticipation of watching Ohio State play some football. Anyways back to the story, Phil and I were both involved in Sigma Epsilon Phi (“Sigma”), an organization of Greek-American students at The Ohio State University, while we were at Ohio State. Some of the Sigma alumni organized a reunion before the game. Here is the Facebook event:

The Meeting

Phil and I went to Ohio State at different times so we never had met before. After socializing for a few hours, Phil asked the group of Sigmates if anyone was hungry and wanted to get food. I raised my hand and said I was starving. Nobody else wanted to go, so the two of us left the bar to go eat at Pita Pit. While eating our pitas Phil and I bonded over making fun of some girl who said tzatziki annoyingly. We came back to the bar not knowing where the rest of our friends went so we ended up watching the whole game together. Even though Ohio State lost that day, we still enjoyed each others company and making fun of people together including Olympic gold medalist Paul Hamm.

A couple of weeks later Phil got Ohio State tickets to the Illinois game and asked me to go to the game via twitter message, and I said yes. 3 years later I said yes to marrying him.
